Used IKEA deals in the US

We compare every item on the shelves with the current new price of the same article in the country. Right now the average discount is 56% across 9 628 comparable items.

How to read this selection

A selection based on the discount against new

This selection compares the price of a second-hand offer with the new price available for the same article in the country you are viewing. A 40% discount means the offer costs 40% less than that new-price benchmark: it does not measure how much cheaper it is than other second-hand offers.

When there is no usable new price for this comparison, we do not assign a discount. That does not automatically make the offer a bad one; it simply cannot be ranked on this basis.

Check that the saving matches what you need

Open the product page to see the price history and compare items in similar condition. A heavily discounted price can still be higher than a second-hand price seen before, or apply to an accessory when you are looking for a complete piece of furniture.

Take missing parts, listed defects and transport into account. The ranking reflects a displayed price gap, not a personal recommendation or a guarantee that it is the best buy.

IKEA new or second-hand: how to choose

When second-hand is unbeatable

The pricier and more durable a piece, the more second-hand pays off. Big systems (PAX, BESTÅ), solid wood (HEMNES) and ranges made for years offer the biggest discounts — often 30-70% — for an identical product, plus an environmental win: extending a piece's life avoids a new build.

When new is still smarter

Conversely, used saves little on small, already-cheap pieces (LACK shelves, small storage): between the trip and a minor flaw, the gap melts away. For sleeping (mattresses), hygiene argues for new. And a piece with very worn fittings can cost more in repairs than it saves.

The method in three reflexes

First, compare the used price with the CURRENT new price of the exact reference in your region — not the seller's claimed price, which is often wrong. Then factor in the real condition and transport cost. Finally, if the right used deal is not available today, set an alert: you will be notified the moment a well-priced unit appears, without giving up or overpaying in a hurry.
