What to check in this category

Compare the item, its dimensions and what is included

A frame, a mirror or a decorative accessory may be sold individually even when its catalogue photo shows an arrangement. Check the quantity, size and included parts before comparing listings.

Usable dimensions can differ from outside dimensions: for a frame, check the picture size; for a mirror, allow for the space needed to hang it. Then compare with the same article new, if it is still available.

Examine the surfaces and plan how to hang it

Look at the corners, edges, reflective surfaces and hanging hardware. Flaws that barely show in a photo can be very noticeable once the item is in place and lit.

For a fragile or heavy item, plan suitable protection for the journey and fixings that match the instructions and your wall. The cost of the trip can exceed the discount on a small accessory.
